About a year ago I bought this device, and my kids have been so annoyed ever since. Circle with Disney, the best parental control device ever made, plugs directly into your router and allows you to control all of your kids’ wifi-connected devices with an iron digital fist! As a parent of two, I cannot tell you how useful this has been to us. I use Circle to control screen time and monitor and block content across multiple devices on our home wifi and it is AWESOME. Each child can have a profile and multiple devices. Unlike the four different parental control apps I tried and failed to use (I’m a little nutty about this topic you see), you don’t even have to install anything on the individual devices.
One caveat, the Circle unit does not control data, just the wifi. In other words, a kid that has a data plan can theoretically circumvent Circle. However Circle offers a paid VPN-technology plan that does control data. For a monthly fee naturally. But it might just be worth it for some parents. I have a 12-year-old with a phone and I haven’t yet had to pay for that, but I also monitor her data usage through the ISP.
The Circle alone is fabulous for younger kids without data plans. My 10-year-old, who has access to a iPod, a Kindle, a laptop and a PS4, absolutely hates it, which tells you that it works. You should hear him scream when the time limit expires in the middle of Roblox. They especially hate when I tell other parents about Circle because they think the kids will blame them when you bring the smack down!
